PhD Dissertation: Truck Activity Pattern Classification Using Anonymous Mobile Sensor Data

  • Applied a supervised machine learning technique, i.e., Random Forest model to classify truck industry that support commodity based freight forecasting.

  • Applied an unsupervised machine learning technique, i.e., K-means cluster to identify activity pattern of trucks that support and validate activity based travel demand models.

  • Developed algorithms to identify stops and paths of truck from anonymous mobile sensor data.

  • Developed a spatiotemporal model to capture rerouting behaviors of trucks due to adverse weather conditions.

  • Derived expansion factors to analyze long-term truck parking utilization.
