Hello, I'm Taslima Akter
I am a civil engineering PhD candidate at the University of Arkansas. My research interest includes, but not limited to, the Transportation System, Management, and Operation (TSMO) for freight trucks and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS). Currently, I am working with Dr. Sarah Hernandez on two research projects: The Effects of Weather Events on Truck Traffic Patterns using Fixed and Mobile Sensors (sponsored by SPTC) and Truck Activity Analysis using Global Positioning System (GPS) data (sponsored by ARDOT). My tasks include the development of a spatial regression model to identify the effects of weather events on truck traffic measured by weigh-in-motion sensors and data reduction and analysis of large streams of truck GPS data to determine representativeness and usability of the national GPS data for Arkansas.
